GRP Completes ‘Legal Cop-out’ From BJE MoA

August 26, 2008

The Arroyo administration has completed its ‘legal cop-out’ from the widely denounced draft agreement that would have given the secessionist Moro Islamic Liberation Front its own sovereign ‘ancestral domain’ in an area even bigger than the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.

Speaking through Solicitor Agnes Devanadera, the government of the day quite ingenuously gave the Supreme Court a 57-page discourse on why the high tribunal no longer has anything to send to the wastebasket simply because the MoA-AD “was not signed, not self-operative, and with the other intended signatory, the MILF, having “nothing demandable.”

Shedding all the legal gobbledygook, one could almost get the impression that bad faith accompanied the way one side dealt with the other.

The Supreme Court convenes again this Friday. This time perhaps the nation will finally know just what the Justices really think of the the Executive’s full retreat on the agreement that deliberately avoided a mention of the Constitution en route to surrendering national honor.

Have you attended one or more of the workshops that the USIP provided to Philippine media about the GRP-MILF discussions that Ellen Tordesillas mentioned in her blogsite?

Why didn’t the reporters/columnists who were at these workshops alert the Filipino people about “juridical entity” and that the MILF for many many years now have always been saying that they are subject to the Philippine constitution?

I was not at any of the supposed workshops. I had been there, I would say so.
