Mar Roxas Sees Through The MILF Bait

September 9, 2008

Your Midfielder has not written about any of the ‘presidentiables’ in the 2010 elections, except on two occasions: when Liberal Party President and Senator Mar Royas had an eye-ball merienda with Filipino bloggers and in the previous post about Mr. Bayani Fernando.

I’m making an exception this time.

I think Senator Mar deserves praise for seeing through the back-handed maneuver of the MILF in ‘nominating’ him to head the new GRP negotiating panel.

Now, for turning down the MILF proposal, the secessionist Moros are castigating Mar, even making a below-the-belt jab, denouncing the senator for still being a bachelor and his long-running romantic link to prominent broadcaster Korina Sanchez.

As both Mar and Korina are dear friends, I am sure they don’t owe anyone an explanation about an issue that is personal to them.

But I go on record to say that I am sure Senator Roxas has the best of intentions towards Korina, and his national constituency.

On the MILF’s bait, as I posted at FV, I can almost picture all of the other ‘presidentiable’ falling all over their feet to ‘apply’ to head the GRP peaqce panel , with Senator Loren Legarda Loren probably first from the starting gate.

But it would be a big mistake for anyone to to take the MILF’s manipulative bait, which is only intended to remove GMA from the negotiating equation.

Not that she doesn’t deserve to be ‘junked’, but the reality is we should not cling to the pipe dream that the MILF is really serious.

Like Malacanang, in the aftermath of the botched MoA-AD. this latest MILF ‘recommendation’ has ‘bad faith’ written all over it, like it denials of knowledge about the the murdrerous attacks of  commanders Kato and Bravo.

Only a properly elected president with a genuine mandate, not any of the wannabees, can commit the nation on any future peace undertaking. GMA had her chance but blew it.

Mar Roxas was correct not to’bite’.

As for the MILF, TRY AGAIN NEXT TIME, BUT WITH MORE FINESSE, PLEASE.
