Joc Joc’s Version of the ‘Truth’

Two hours into his long-delayed appearance as ‘resource person’ of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, Jocelyn ‘Joc Joc’ Bolante is sounding like a morphed image of the “see no evil, hear no evil, say no evil” 3-monkey caricature.

The only unequivocal remark he has made so far is that Gloria Macapagal Arroyo “did not have to approve any of the releases from the P728-M fertilizer fund.”

Bolante sounded well briefed by his lawyers about how to look inquisitorial senators straight in the eye with matching cool-and-collected demeanor.

But this has failed to impress the lawmakers who are incredulous is not outright dismissive of Bolante’s statements as “obvious lies.”

Senator Mar Roxas even coined a neologism, saying the fertilizer fund was “obviously designed to be “kukakooted” and that the scam was a case of “qualified theft agri.”

All that looks certain so far is the Bolante story-telling session will run more than one day, with the alleged architect of the anomaly serving up the verbal equivalent of siopao bola-bola with glimmers of meat-asado,
