GMA Is 41st ‘Most Powerful Woman’ : Forbes Magazine

August 21, 2009

Oohs and ahs in the coffee shops today.

Not over the anniversaries of the Aquino assassination nor of the Plaza Miranda bombing.

They’re over Forbes Magazine’s ranking of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as the 41st most powerful woman in the world!

But don’t get your palms red trading congratulatory high-fives just yet.

Don’t miss reading the fine print and the actual text of the Forbes mag caption story:

The scandal-tainted president’s popularity fell to a record low in June over escalating food and energy prices; Arroyo soon announced a deal with oil companies to trim diesel prices.A recent imbroglio: Arroyo’s husband is among those accused of accepting bribes in a $330 million deal with a Chinese telecom firm.Despite rumors of another ouster campaign in the works, Arroyo has survived three impeachment attempts and three coup plots since taking office in 2001 and is sure to fight back. — Tatiana Serafin

Slap me please.

Does ‘powerful’ here mean NOTORIOUS?

So there.
