The movie playing in the mind of former President Joseph ‘Erap’ Estrada could very well be one portraying him as doing a McArthur making a triumphant beachhead  to ‘liberate’ the Philippines from Gloria Arroyo’s decade-long rule.

And as far us McErap is concerned, his upcoming true-to-life movie will be a hit in hext year’s political box office:

I will not run for the presidency if I’m not sure I’ll win.

As the reports have it, Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile and Senate President Pro Tempore Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada will lead the initial senatorial line up for the 2010 elections of United Opposition (UNO), comprised of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) and the Partido ng Masang Pilipino (PDP-Laban).

UNO says the list also includes Representatives Teodoro “Teddy Boy” Locsin of Makati, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. of Ilocos Norte, and Rodolfo Plaza of Agusan Del Sur.

Newcomers Grace Poe-Llamanzares, daughter of actor Fernando Poe Jr., and NBN-ZTE whistleblower Jose “Joey” De Venecia III, son of Congressman and former House Speaker Jose De Venecia Jr., are also running under UNO.
Jailed Brigadier General Danny Lim and actor Edu Manzano are also included.

Lawyer Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, if he decides to drop his case in the Supreme Court for having been cheated in 2007 elections, will also be an UNO candidate.

Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago is a guest candidate.

Only the 12th senatorial slot of Mr. Estrada is vacant, indicating that negotiations are still in progress with the last personality.

For this writer among the shoo-ins in the UNO line-up are the young De Venecia, Cong. Marcos, and the cashiered colonel Lim, given their known rejection of the Arroyo regime.

But erstwhile Optical Media Board chief Edu Manzano?

Now that’s a surprise!!

Still and all, the Estrada ‘senatoriables’ could give the administration’s own boys a hard time at the pols with the expected anti-GMA vote.

As for McErap’s ‘restoration, not a few have serious doubts.

BTW, McErap’s running-mate is the original ‘Rambotito’: Mayor Jejomar Binay of Makati.
