Reflections On Mortality And Humanity

April 8, 2010

A feeling of ambivalence.

This is what I have upon seeing that Attorney Jose Miguel Arroyo, our first ever First Gentleman, has dodged the bullet yet again.

He’s recovered considerably from that tear in his aortic artery, enough to be discharged from Saint Luke’s and allow President Gloria join the summit meeting of ASEAN leaders for the last time.

GMA must certainly be raring to assure our neighbor countries that there will be a peaceful, and democratic transfer of power when her controversial rule expires.

This imperative, legal and moral, must certainly have figured in FG’s musings as he lay inside the ICU during Holy Week along with the realization that we are only still here by God’s Grace and unconditional love.

Those among us who’ve stared death in the face know that much as we enjoy good food, material trappings, or even power – all these will run out sooner or later and when the Father calls us, He will see, and judge us as naked as the day we were born.

So I wish you well, Attorney Mike, and I hope you have turned your back on dark machinations real or imagined.

Humbly submitted.
