Ping Lacson Homebound Soon?
Fugitive Senator Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson should be ending his self-imposed exile soon.
With a new dispensation coming upon us, the senator should make good his promise to face the music in the Dacer-Corbito double murder case.
Lacson fled the country in early January shortly before Judge Myra Garcia-Fernandez of the Manila Regional Trial Court was assigned the case with the Arroyo regime perceived to be prodding it on.
Now the Supreme Court has designated Manila RTC Branch 32 Judge Thelma Bunyi-Medina to handle the Dacer-Corbito murder case.
Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 18 Judge Myra Garcia-Fernandez who was originally handling the case has been promoted Court of Appeals Associate Justice this March.
There’s also this word from presidential frontrunner Sen. Benigno Aquino III : “Like any other citizen he can expect the rule of law will be religiously observed, No one will be favored, no one will be persecuted. So whatever his rights are, that will prevail.”
On Friday, Judge Medina will start hearing the pending pleadings on the case after of one of the accused, Margarito Cueno, requested that he undergo medical checkup outside the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) premises.
There have been varied speculation about where in the world Lacson iswith some NBI reports saying he’s been spotted in Europe.
There’s also talk that he’s just around the Asia Pacific corridor.
Come on home, Senator Ping.
