Time To Face The Music And Sing Mr. Cito Lorenzo

July 9, 2010

Does he hold the key?

Many Filipinos think so given Senate findings that former Agriculture Secretaro City Lorenzo allegedly signed the administrative order turning over the anomalous fertilizer fund program to his undersecretary, Jocelyn ‘Joc-Joc’Bolante, and the disbursement of the P728 million.

It’s widely suspected that a bulk of the funds went to the 2004 electoral bid of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

It was former Sen. Ramon Magsaysay Jr. who headed the 2005 Senate inquiry into the scam and recommended the filing of plunder charges against Lorenzo and other agriculture officials:

He’s the missing link. He will give us the complete picture. I’m sure of that. He wants to protect himself and his reputation, and that of his family.

Lorenzo, whose brother contributed some PhP 20-M to the campaign of President Aquino, should obviously now be ready to fearlessly sing about what he knows, right.

Who is the higher authority, the big fish who really ordered the disbursement of the fund purportedly for the purchase of farm inputs and implements for farmers?

As things stand, Mr. Lorenzo remains tagged as a principal player in the scam unless he can prove that he was bypassed in the shenanigan.

You returned from – Mr. Lorenzo.

Time to face the music and belt out your song.

Then breathe  easy and sleep comfortably.
