RoNin In Love
Love will never go out of style.
It is a blessing. It celebrates life itself. It completes us.
These romantically affirmative insights come not from your hopeless and continually hopeful Midfielder but from a newly-engaged couple – Nino (Nick) Yap Cugtas and Rochelle Sy Chua.
Seeing them giddy with love and excitedly looking forward to their wedding, one couldn’t but realize that indeed amidst the conflicts rancor in society there is always every reason for hopeand happiness.
Nick and Roch’s romance found its seeds on the World Wide Web, with Nick first discovering his lady love via her extremely popular food and lifestyle blog ‘Hearty’s Haven’ and Roch finding the young man via his blog Tingog.com (Visayan for ‘voice’) and the influential political writing collective ‘FilipinoVoices.com .
Then of course there was Facebook.
So did Nick begin courting the maiden through the blogosphere for over a year (or was it two?) until he managed to fly to Manila from his base in Michigan for their first face to face meet-up in March 2009.
T’was then that Cupid’s sole unerring arrow pierced the two hearts.
Despite being buried in work Nick flew back to Manila over the weekend, went down on one knee and nervously popped the question.
It took about three ’loong’ seconds for Roch to say ‘Yes’.
Nick is flying back to the U.S. this week to sort out the fiancee visa he’s sought for Roch while the young lady wraps up her professional commitments.
These next 12 months (or less) will be hectic.
A civil wedding, and two Church weddings – one in the U.S. and the second knot-tying event in the Philippines!
Why do I know this you ask?
Well, DingG will be Ninong of the newly weds!
Roch and Nino with their ‘noble’ nickname ‘RoNin’.
Oh love, sweet love!!!
