Privacy, Virtue, And Promiscuity In Society: Lessons From HaydenGate

May 25, 2009

Katrina Halili is any red-blooded man’s fantasy.

Blessed with a classically chiseled face and bodily, and boldly well-proportioned as she is, Katrina’s boob tube, celluloid, and print media packaging has thus been built on her being presented in an eclectic mix of fantasy story lines and highly suggestive photo shoots, all the while clad is seductive outfits and positioned in suggestive poses.

So it is that it is a major departure to see Katrina shedding all-too-real tears of embarrassment and anger and pleading for justice before a senator-movie actor rumoured to be eyeing higher office.

Now no longer mouthing script line, she’s hailing her erstwhile lover to court.

The cebrity cosmetic surgeon has been exposed as a hidden camera voyeur whose portfolio of amateur porn flicks with unsuspecting sex partners have become downloadable video blogs on the Internet and sold on sidewalks and by door-to-door hawkers as X-rated video DVD collections.

How far will Katrina’s battle to uphold her virtue progress against this backdrop of social promiscuity and warped moral valued driven by livelihood seekers in an economically-challenged dog-eat-dog world.

Somewhere there one muses whether Katrina shares the blame in all this somehow and where her career will go after this traumatic episode.

Most everyone is ready to throw her ‘assailant’ in jail to take his turn at become some convict’s jailhouse ‘Boy Toy’ complete perhaps with video documentation.

But will Philippine society’s continuing descent to deeper moral degradation be reversed when all the hoopla over this sex video scandal dies down?

The situation described by Jose Rizal as an incurable “social cancer” is indeed that: CANCER.

The “Presumption of Ignorance” claimed by Katrina Halili leaves me incredulous, and anyone who believes it must not be aware that some of the pictures and video clearly show him holding a camera in plain sight of her. Considering their relationship (not just in bed) it is impossible to believe that she never saw him actually setting up and using cameras on her and both of them together. But it would be interesting to see a full blown stone throwing war among the residents of Barangay Salaminan.

What’s the best guess of who released the videos and why, inquiring minds full of innuendo want to know?

I’ve been trying to sort that out Manong and I actually a stinking suspicion even of where exactly the offending sex video was filmed. But I’d rather not plant a purely speculative detail given how sordid HaydenGate is unraveling.

Clearly, this is moral ambiguity. “An ugly cry to justify the carelessness of becoming without the integrity of being”

Double standard as usual. If an unknown beauty had sex with someone for fun or profit we have no problem descibing her in a language known all to well, “Pok-Pok”.

But if it someone whose big TV network has developed as one of their frontline assets engages in this kind of behavior, we call her “victim of injustice”.

    Hay buhay Pinoy. 🙂
